LADARIEL
The Flag of Ladariel is a rampant silver winged unicorn on a purple field surrounded by three stars
The Land of Ladariel was an ideal place full of huge forests, thick fertile lands and swathes of rich farmland. The people loved their beautiful country which was ruled absolutely by the Unicorn Emperor and Empress. They consulted a Magistrate, composed of artisans and bankers. The Unicorn’s lands were known for their skilled creators, especially of items said to be magical. There were some who would craft beautiful tapestries. Their stunning pieces would gain them recognition worldwide. The Weaver’s order and performer’s guilds had a strong position within the society. They often influenced local policy in the favor of business and entertainment. Performances were a common event in the land which lead to a popular culture that favored the creative inventors. This lead to a variety of musical events that were regular thorough the land. Most magical, was that the unicorns were summoned by druids who began to work in balance with the world.
The Unicorn royal family resided in the ivory-walled fortress, Castille de Licorne which towered high on its mountain. They were often cloistered from the main part of society. Most family members learned to care for plants in addition to their royal families. The Queen resided in a delicate temple which sprang from the center of the fortress labyrinth garden. The temple guarded a stunning purple tree which was said to grow a ruby fruit. Only the royal family was permitted to eat of this crystalline fruit. It became the duty of one of the royal family to learn to tend to the plant and ensure it was healthy. This involved mundane tasks such as watering, weeding and pruning. The gardens and zoos of the land were legendary for being well stocked.
Their primary exports were their fine tapestries made of mystical fabrics and food. They were a productive country that valued working the land and working with the land. The balance was carefully struck where unicorns were consulted to guide farmers on the best locations to farm with the least impact to the natural order. This meant that despite their natural bounty, they were restricted in how much they could grow. This caused some restlessness which was held at bay only for the respect held toward the unicorns. Unicorns grew in number, though rarely seen, it was said they were in the forest and seen around the druids that made the forest their homes.
The other major aspect of the realm was that the paladins of the land who swore to serve the Unicorns often had a unicorn as their mystically summoned mount. They often honored the Unicornity form of Chivalry (yes, that is a real-life medieval form of chivalry).
Unicorn/Horse Religion: This country honors unicorns and horses, often featuring them on their goods. Horse breeding is a common and respected tradition as grazing land is easy to come by in this land and each town has a common paddock. Mundane horses are often adorned with a unicorn horn as it is said to give the mounts the qualities of unicorns. Saddles are often emblazoned with wings as it is said to make your horse more swift. Red glass decorations hung under the decorative horns to represent a unicorn’s carbuncle (a magic ruby under the unicorn horn) and are said to grant your mount wisdom. Horses are highly desired in the country and were often outlandishly decorated especially during celebrations. It is said the better you treat your horse, the better your life in heaven will be because you horse will come with you as a unicorn. Druids believe the pinnacle of reincarnation is to return as a unicorn.
Major Exports: Horses, Artisan goods, tapestries, magical items, unicorn-themed objects, food (grain, fruits, tree nuts, vegetables, hemp), songshards (enchanted quartz point plays one song)
Restrictions: Heavy anti-hunting laws (very heavy penalties, very strict), Very strict planting and development laws, Tree Removal restrictions (you must build your house around the trees as much as you can).
Thieves Guild: Large. Medium Strength. The Thieves guild is heavily associated with the Weaver’s Guild but only on the underground. That is not common knowledge. They are also heavily associated with the Entertainer’s Guild which is a little more well known. They may be large and well connected, but they cannot penetrate the more honorable guilds well. With the Priests, Druids, Clerics, Paladins and the Unicorn family in charge, the Thieves guild will never grow much larger.
Wealth: Very wealthy from produce with careful spending and saving. Though the country is fertile and has a variety of produce, there are huge restrictions on any meat procurement and planting new fields. This means the country will never grow much richer.
Military: Druid, Rangers, Clerics and Paladins
UNICORN FAMILY
Rulers: The Unicorn Emperor and Empress
The Unicorn Family Philosophy: Loyalty to the family is vital and the family bond is highly prized. Traditionally the unicorns follow the Unicornity form of Chivalry (strength, healing, love, loyalty, love from a distance, purity of body, mind and spirit). Their symbol is a rampant silver winged unicorn. Each family member also has their own heraldry which includes a unicorn.
